9 Manners Flight Attendants Hate

Changing Overhead Bins

Move your own carry-ons but don't touch others'. Leave organizing the overhead compartment to the flight attendants, and never grab someone else's bags from them thinking you're helping.

Plane Hall Monitor

Some customers assume they're helping flight attendants by reprimanding other passengers. You shouldn't tell someone to wear a mask, put their tray tables away, or buckle their seatbelt.

Self-Service Refreshments

It's rude to serve yourself drinks from the cart next to you. They track each passenger's provided drinks.

Requesting for a large water bottle

Requesting a lot of water during beverage service is unreasonable. Flight attendants have a plane full of thirsty people, so if you don't have water, you'll get a single serving.

Overly Friendly

Leave "toots," "sweetie," "honey," "babies," and "darling" behind. Like Pan Am's 1990s bankruptcy. It's impolite and may anger the attendant. Avoid insulting flight attendants.

Only Thanking the Pilot After Your Flight

Flight attendants deserve appreciation without presents or gratuity. Instead of thanking the pilot for a safe flight, thank your flight attendant. Hard, thankless work.

Avoiding Flying

Flying frightened? Tell someone. Flight attendants prefer you don't. If you bottle up your emotions, they may explode in public. Flight attendants dislike unnecessary passenger discomfort.

Flight Attendant Flirting

Flight attendants are working, so don't harass them with sexual advances. Avoid overcomplimenting, flirting, and asking for their number. Helping and being pleasant doesn't mean they're flirting.

Calling Flight Attendant to Chat

If you need something, call your flight steward. Some tourists are bored or lonely and want to talk to the cabin crew, but this can get them in trouble or distract them.
